The recommended method before sleeping is dust your bed with the edge of any of your garment or you can spare a cloth for this. This is basically for the reason that when you were from your bed you never know what has happened. There could be some insects or reptiles. So it is best to remove any dust of check thoroughly your bed.

Islamic Dua To Get a Sound Sleep

Prayer for Insomnia

It has been mentioned in Bukhari Sharif and Muslim Sharif that:

بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي، وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ، فَإِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا، وَإِنْ

Bismika Rabbee wad’a’tu janbee, wa bika ‘arf’a’uhu, fa-in Amsakta nafsee far’hamhaa, wa-in

In Your name my Lord, I lie down and in Your name I rise, so if You should take my soul then have mercy upon it,  and

 أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا، بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

arsaltahaa fahfaz-haa, bimaa ta’hfazu bi-‘hi ‘ibaadakas-saaliheen

if You should return my soul then protect it in the manner You do so with Your righteous servants.

Our Beloved Prophet (ﷺ) SallALLAHu Alayhe Wasallam places his right hand under his cheek when He was about to sleep and then He supplicate this Dua three (3) times:

اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ

ALLAHUMMA Qinee ‘azaabaka yawma tab-’athu ‘ibaadaka

O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the day Your servants are resurrected.

Then He read this dua:

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

BismikALLAHUMMA Amootu Wa-‘ahya

In Your name O ALLAH, I live and die

Zikr Before Falling Asleep

When you lie down on your bed to sleep. There is a little time of relaxing and thinking. Time from 10 minutes to -40 minutes, depends on different people. Some might fall asleep as soon as they lie down and some take time at least an hour. During this time in order not to satan’s mislead you. You can start a zikr specially before sleeping. This remembrance of ALLAH Ta’ala comprises of:

1. Astaghfaar X 3 times – ‘Astaghfirullahu Rabbi Min Kulli Zanbbiuw Watoobu Ilaih’  Translation- “I ask forgiveness of my sins from ALLAH who is my Lord and I turn towards HIM”.
2. Before you go to sleep it is the best practice that you make a fresh ablution (wuzu). This will safeguard you from any activities of satan during the entire night and there are much more rewards for this than we can imagine;
3. Our Beloved Prophet (ﷺ) SallALLAHU Alayhe Wasallam has said: “Whoever says this and dies in his sleep has died in a state of the natural monotheism (Fitrah).” This has been mentioned in Muslim Shareef and Bukhari Shareef. After lying down on the bed turn towards right hand side and recite this dua:

اللَّهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ

Allahumma aslamtu nafsee ilayk,

O ALLAH, I submit my soul unto YOU

، وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ

wafawwadtu amree ilayk

and I entrust my affair unto YOU

، وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ

wawajjahtu wajhee ilayk,

and I entrust my affair unto YOU

 ، وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ، رَغْبَةً وَرَهْبَةً إِلَيْكَ، لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلّا مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ، آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ

wa-alja-tu zahree ilayk, raghbatan warahbatan ilayk, la maljaa wala manja minka illa ilayk, amantu bikitabikal-lazee anzalt, wabinabiyyikal-lazee arsalt

and I turn my face towards YOU, and I totally rely on YOU, in hope and fear of YOU. Verily there is neither refuge nor safe haven from YOU except with YOU. I believe in YOUR Book which YOU have revealed and in Your Prophet whom YOU have sent.
